1. You Keep Score Of Every Wrong Thing They Do
If you see yourself continually bringing up every wrong thing they have done in the past and listing them down when you encounter a misunderstanding or have a fight, then you are in a toxic relationship. It is okay to point out their mistakes in the present to give them leeway to learn from it, and you are supposed to forgive them for that mistake. But you don’t have to keep score because they probably have learned from it; you should not have held a grudge on it anymore.
2. Passive-Aggressive Conversations When Something Is Wrong
When you don’t tell your partner right away how you are feeling, you won’t be able to address the problem the right way. Being passive-aggressive only causes more problems in a relationship. Instead, you irritate the other, and you just start another squabble. Please remember that you nor your partner are mind readers, so you have to tell them face-to-face and discuss it calmly.
3. Too Much Jealousy
If your partner ends up getting jealous about anyone that you or they encounter, then that’s a sign of a toxic trait. Jealousy can do a lot of things, and the presence of jealousy means that there is no trust in your relationship. Once there is too much irrational jealousy, you end up fighting every single time! Nothing gets solved because you end up losing friends or potential friends, and you keep fighting. You reason that you are jealous because you “love” them, and you don’t want to “lose” them for someone else.
4. Constantly Feeling Like You’re Walking On Eggshells
If you find yourself always watching what you say or do, then you are in a toxic relationship. If you are still not sure if your actions or words will be taken in the right way or if you might end up in another big fight, then you must leave. It’s not good to be in such a relationship anymore. When you are in a healthy relationship, you don’t have to worry about doing or saying something wrong.
5. It Feels Like A One-Man Effort
In a healthy relationship, each partner makes compromises to make the relationship work. You have to balance out all the work to ensure that both of you are happy. If you reason such action as “if they’re happy, then I am happy,” despite being miserable, then that’s not a healthy way to be together. Both of you should be happy, and you can only do that when you both exert effort for the other’s benefit, too.
6. There’s Just No Respect Anymore
When your partner no longer respects you, it is time to leave. There has to be respect between both partners to have a functioning partnership. Respect is important because it leads to trust, and trust is one of the most essential pillars of a happy bond. It would be best if you never let your partner disrespect you in public or private because that is a sign that they do not care about you.
7. Presence Of All Types Of Abuse
Physical or verbal abuse is a deal-breaker, and the relationship should end immediately. If it happens once, it will happen again. No matter what they say, they will not changed. If you have experienced any of these signs that we have listed down, we are here to tell you that you deserve better, and it’s okay to leave the relationship. Love is supposed to make you feel free and blossom, not trapped and miserable. If you know anyone who might be experiencing this, share this with them to help them understand that it’s time to let their toxic relationship go.
